Keiko and I were invited to an American Living holiday preview a few months ago. Really cool collection of classics that brought me back. I walked in and saw some great sweaters and winter clothes and thought, “I need me some sweater action.” Upon leaving they actually asked us what we wanted! They were kind enough to send me a sweater, which has kept me mighty warm on these hot-chocolate wintery weeks.
I’ve been in full-swing work-mode lately. Both the SoHo House and SoHo Grand Hotel have needed everybody to put their all into their work. I’ve been learning so much at both jobs, but especially cooking with Chef Paul and the crew. I owe these guys big time. Every day I feel more and more comfortable taking on tasks that weren’t as comfortable the day before. I’m getting faster and more precise with cuts and measurements. I’m like the bionic woman. Just not a woman.
Keiko is getting ready to leave me for her annual trip back to Florida for the holidays. It’s a sad parting but I just bury myself even more in my work and enjoy the cold weather for a couple weeks until she comes back. ”Absence makes the heart grow fonder” is pretty accurate. I’m at the airport an entire hour early before she comes back, reading a book, sipping some coffee, and tapping the floor with my toes like an over-caffeinated metronome. Yea, I get some funny looks, but you’re in New York - you’ll see stranger things…
